Portland Trail Blazers Star Stuck At Home During Nets Game
On Wednesday evening, the Portland Trail Blazers are hosting the Brooklyn Nets in Oregon.
Starting center Deandre Ayton had missed the previous 11 games but was cleared to make his return to action.
However, the former first-overall pick was unable to make it to the arena and was stuck at home due to the roads.
Via Casey Holdahl: "Ayton tried for hours to combat the sheet of ice leading out of his neighborhood and the team sent people out to help as well, but to no avail, so he is out for tonight’s game versus Brooklyn"
Ayton has played in 24 games so far this season and is averaging 13.1 points, 10.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 steals per contest while shooting 54.8% from the field.
He is in his first season with Portland after getting traded (via the Phoenix Suns) over the offseason.
The 25-year-old was with the Suns for each of his first five years in the NBA and helped them reach the Finals in 2021.
His career averages are 16.4 points, 10.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 blocks per contest while shooting 59.3% from the field and 26.3% from the three-point range in 327 games.
As for the Trail Blazers, they have gotten off to a slow start to the season and are the 14th seed in the Western Conference with a 10-29 record in their first 39 games.
Following the Nets, they will host the Indiana Pacers on Friday evening in Oregon.
At home, the Trail Blazers are 5-12 in 17 games.
