Recent Boston Celtics Player Signs With Team In China

Tremont Waters was initially the 51st pick in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics.
He most recently played in the league during the 2021-22 season when he appeared in three games for the Toronto Raptors and Washington Wizards and averaged 3.3 points, 1.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.7 steals per contest.
Recently, Alberto De Roa of HoopsHype reported that the 25-year-old has signed a deal with the Guangdong Southern Tigers (a team in China).

Waters initially played his college basketball for LSU (two seasons) and averaged 15.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 2.5 steals per contest while shooting 42.3% from the field and 34.0% from the three-point range in 66 games.
During his final season, LSU made the Sweet 16 before losing to Michigan State in the NCAA Tournament.

During his time in the NBA, Waters has played in 40 regular season games with career averages of 3.7 points and 2.1 assists per contest while shooting 35.4% from the field and 29.6% from the three-point range.
He also appeared in four NBA playoff games with the Celtics and was on the team that made the 2020 Eastern Conference Finals.

Waters has also had success in the G League with averages of 15.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 1.8 steals per contest over 65 regular season games (he has also appeared in 13 Showcase Cup games and two G League playoff games).
At just 25, Waters is a player that could end up back in the NBA at some point.
