Recent Lakers Player Officially Signs With Nets

Lonnie Walker IV has officially signed with the Brooklyn Nets.

Lonnie Walker IV is coming off a solid season where he averaged 11.7 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists per contest while shooting 44.8% from the field and 36.5% from the three-point range in 56 games for the Los Angeles Lakers.

This summer, the former Miami star became a free agent, and (on Monday) he officially signed with the Brooklyn Nets.

On July 2, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Walker's contract with the Nets is for one year.

Via Wojnarowski: "Free agent Lonnie Walker has agreed to a one year deal with the Brooklyn Nets, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul and agent Lucas Newton tell ESPN."

In addition to the Lakers, Walker also spent the first four seasons of his NBA career with the San Antonio Spurs (he was the 18th pick in the 2018 Draft).

His career averages are 9.9 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists per contest while shooting 42.2% from the field and 34.9% from the three-point range in 264 regular season games (he has also appeared in 19 NBA playoff games).

This past year, Walker helped the Lakers defeat the Memphis Grizzlies and Golden State Warriors in the first two rounds of the playoffs (the Denver Nuggets swept them in the Western Conference Finals).

The Nets are coming off a year where they were the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference but were swept in the first round of the Playoffs for the second straight season.

They are in a rebuilding mode following the trades of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, so Walker will likely be able to play a significant role.
