Rudy Gobert Made NBA History In Grizzlies-Timberwolves Game

On Thursday evening, the Minnesota Timberwolves are hosting the Memphis Grizzlies at the Target Center.  

During the game, Rudy Gobert made NBA history by moving ahead of DeAndre Jordan (1,534) and Wayne Cooper (1,535) for 37th on the all-time blocks list.  

Following Jordan and Cooper, the next player for Gobert to pass will be Samuel Dalembert (1,546). 

Gobert came into the evening with averages of 13.3 points, 12.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 2.1 blocks per contest while shooting 64.0% from the field in 39 games. 

He has helped the Timberwolves get off to an excellent start to the season, as they are the first seed in the Western Conference with a 29-11 record in their first 40 games. 

They are 6-4 over their last ten games and are in the middle of a three-game winning streak.   

Most recently, the Timberwolves beat the Detroit Pistons by a score of 124-117. 

In 38 minutes of playing time, Gobert had 19 points, 16 rebounds, two assists and one block while shooting 8/11 from the field.  

Following the Grizzlies, the Timberwolves will host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday evening. 

At home, they are 16-2 in the 18 games they have played at the Target Center in Minnesota. 

Gobert was the 27th pick in the 2013 NBA Draft and is in his 11th season in the league. 

His career averages are 12.6 points, 11.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 2.1 blocks per contest while shooting 65.3% from the field in 720 regular season games (he has also appeared in 54 NBA playoff games).
