Sacramento Kings Reportedly Sign Former Notre Dame Star

According to Keith Smith of Spotrac, the Sacramento Kings have signed Dane Goodwin and Jake Stephens to training camp deals.

The Sacramento Kings have gone 0-4 in their first four preseason games and are coming off a 116-115 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday evening. 

They will play their final preseason game against the Utah Jazz (at home) on Thursday.

Since the regular season is coming up, teams around the league have been making roster moves. 

On Thursday afternoon, Keith Smith of Spotrac reported that the Kings have signed two new players to training camp deals. 

Via Smith: "The Sacramento Kings have signed Dane Goodwin and Jake Stephens to training camp contracts, a league source told @spotrac."

Goodwin is coming off a year where he played in 32 games for Notre Dame.

He averaged 11.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest while shooting 43.5% from the field and 38.8% from the three-point range.  

This summer, he went undrafted. 

Meanwhile, Stephens also went undrafted in June. 

He played his final college season for Chattanooga and averaged an outstanding 22.0 points, 9.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.2 blocks per contest while shooting 55.2% from the field and 40.8% from the three-point range in 24 games.  

As for the Kings, they will play their first game of the 2023-24 regular season on October 25, when they face off against the the Jazz in Salt Lake City. 

They are coming off a sensational regular season where they went 48-34 and finished as the third seed in the Western Conference. 

The Kings made the NBA playoffs for the first time since the 2006 season but lost to the Golden State Warriors in the first round.
