San Antonio Spurs Reportedly Made A $35 Million Decision
Zach Collins is coming off a year where he appeared in 63 regular season games for the San Antonio Spurs.
He averaged 11.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists per contest while shooting 51.8% from the field and 37.4% from the three-point range.
The 25-year-old was on track to be a free agent next summer, but ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Collins has agreed to a contract extension with the Spurs.
Via Wojnarowski: "San Antonio Spurs center Zach Collins has agreed on a two-year, $35 million contract extension, Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports tells ESPN. Deal secures Collins through the 2025-2026 season."
Collins was initially the tenth pick in the 2017 NBA Draft out of Gonzaga and has played five seasons in the league for the Portland Trail Blazers (and Spurs).
His career averages are 7.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest while shooting 47.7% from the field and 34.2% from the three-point range in 245 regular season games.
He has also appeared in 20 NBA playoff games and helped the Trail Blazers reach the Western Conference Finals in 2019.
The Spurs are coming off a season where they were the 15th seed in the Western Conference with a 22-60 record.
They missed the NBA playoffs for the fourth straight season but selected Victor Wembanyama with the first pick in the NBA Draft this past summer.
On October 25, the Spurs will play their first game of the season when they host Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks in Texas.
