Steph Curry Defends Klay Thompson Following Warriors-Suns Game
On Tuesday evening, the Golden State Warriors hosted the Phoenix Suns for their first game of the 2023-24 regular season.
The Suns took a 15-point lead into halftime, but the Warriors won the third quarter by 21 points.
That said, they still lost to the Suns by a score of 108-104.
One of the biggest reasons for the Warriors' struggles during the game was their poor shooting (10/43 from the three-point range).
Despite playing good defense, Klay Thompson had a tough night on the offensive end, putting up 15 points on 6/18 shooting from the field and 3/11 from the three-point range in 36 minutes.
After the game, Steph Curry met with the media and spoke highly of his teammate.
Curry: "I know everybody's going to talk about our shooting percentage and try to single out him and whatnot. It's going to come. We have so much faith in Klay."
Curry, who had 27 points, also struggled, shooting just 8/20 from the field and 4/14 from the three-point range in 31 minutes.
That said, the Suns had an inefficient night (11/33 form the three-point range), and 13-time NBA All-Star Kevin Durant shot just 7/22 (he had 18 points).
The Warriors will play their next game against the Sacramento Kings (on the road) on Friday.
Meanwhile, the Suns will play their next game on Thursday evening when they visit LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in California.
Both teams lost in the second round of the 2023 NBA playoffs (in six games).
