Victor Wembanyama's Honest Statement After Spurs-Celtics Game

Victor Wembanyama met with the media after Wednesday's game.

On Wednesday evening, the San Antonio Spurs lost to the Boston Celtics (in Massachusetts) by a score of 117-98.

Three players on the Celtics scored 20+ points, and All-Star forward Jayson Tatum led the way with 24.

After the game, star rookie Victor Wembanyama met with the media and was asked about his first time playing in Boston.

Reporter: "What are your takeaways from your first experience playing under the banners here in Boston?"

Wembanyama: "It's the first seed; it's a legendary franchise. Sometimes, it's hard to realize we play against the best basketball players in the world. This is the top level, and we're not that far away from competing, really, and winning against these teams and it's a weird feeling as an individual already."

Wembanyama finished the game with 27 points, five rebounds, one assist and one block while shooting 10/19 from the field and 2/6 from the three-point range in only 27 minutes of playing time.

The 20-year-old has scored 20+ points in seven out of his last eight games despite playing 27 minutes or fewer.

He will have an excellent chance to win the Rookie of The Year Award.

That said, the Spurs are the 15th seed in the Western Conference and dropped to 7-33 in their first 40 games.

They are in the middle of a three-game losing streak and are 2-8 over their last ten games.

On Friday evening, the Spurs will visit the Charlotte Hornets in North Carolina.

In 21 games away from San Antonio, they have a 4-17 record.
