On Friday evening, the San Antonio Spurs hosted the Chicago Bulls in Texas. 

They lost the game by a score of 121-112, but rookie Victor Wembanyama had a fantastic game.   

The 19-year-old put up 21 points, 20 rebounds, four assists, one steal and four blocks while shooting 8/20 from the field in 32 minutes of playing time. 

His stat line also made NBA history.

Via NBA.com/Stats: "At 19 years, 338 days old, Victor Wembanyama becomes the youngest player in NBA history to record a 20-PT, 20-REB game (Dwight Howard - 19 years, 342 days old on 11/15/2005)."

Wembanyama has played in 20 games so far this season and is averaging 19.0 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.7 blocks per contest while shooting 43.0% from the field.   

Despite his stellar start to the season, the Spurs have struggled in a significant way. 

They are the 15th seed in the Western Conference (last place) with a 3-18 record in their first 21 games. 

The Spurs are also in the middle of a 16-game losing streak and 1-10 in the 11 games they have hosted on their home floor in San Antonio.

On Monday evening, they will play their next game when they visit the Rockets in Houston.

The Spurs have missed the NBA playoffs in each of the previous four years, but they have also won five titles since the 1999 season.

Wembanyama has shown that he has the potential to become a superstar and completely turn around the franchise.
