Victor Wembanyama Made NBA History In Spurs-Raptors Game
On Monday evening, the San Antonio Spurs played one of their most complete games of the season when they faced off against the Toronto Raptors in Canada.
They won the game by a score of 122-99 and outscored the Raptors in each of the first three quarters.
A significant reason for their impressive victory was rookie Victor Wembanyama.
The 20-year-old had 27 points, 14 rebounds, five assists, two steals and ten blocks while shooting 10/14 from the field and 2/4 from the three-point range in only 29 minutes of playing time.
His stat line also made NBA history.
Via Jordan Howenstine of Spurs PR: "Victor Wembanyama is now the fourth rookie in NBA history to record a triple-double with blocks (the first since David Robinson in 1990).
Victor Wembanyama (tonight)
David Robinson (1990)
Ralph Sampson (1983)
Mark Eaton (1983)"
Wembanyama has picked up his play over the last few months and is having an excellent rookie season.
He is now averaging 20.4 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.1 steals and 3.2 blocks per contest while shooting 46.8% from the field and 31.9% from the three-point range in 48 games.
With the victory, the Spurs snapped a seven-game losing streak and improved to 11-43 in their first 54 games.
They are 3-7 over their last ten games and 6-22 in the 28 games they have played on the road away from San Antonio.
Following the Raptors, the Spurs will visit Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday evening in Texas.
