Victor Wembanyama has had an excellent season for the San Antonio Spurs and will have a very good chance to win the 2024 Rookie of The Year Award.

Recently, Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green had high praise for Wembanyama on his podcast The Draymond Green Show (h/t The Volume).

Green: "I know I said on here a little while back, Wemby shouldn't be the Defensive Player of The Year. I lied. Wemby should be the Defensive Player of The Year because he is that amazing defensively. The way he impacts the game on the defensive end, whether it's off the ball, on the ball, it's a problem."

Wembanyama is averaging 21.2 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.3 steals and 3.5 blocks per contest while shooting 46.4% from the field and 31.9% from the three-point range in 67 games.

The Spurs are a franchise that is in rebuilding mode and have an 18-58 record in 76 games, which has them as the 15th seed (last place) in the Western Conference.

The Warriors and Spurs most recently played on March 31 (in San Antonio), and the Warriors won by a score of 117-113.

Despite the loss, Wembanyama put up 32 points, nine rebounds, five assists, four steals and three blocks while shooting 10/22 from the field and 3/10 from the three-point range in 31 minutes of playing time.

Green is a four-time NBA Champion and won the 2017 Defensive Player of The Year Award, which makes his comments extremely noteworthy.
