On Monday evening, the Denver Nuggets won the 2023 NBA Championship when they defeated the Miami Heat on their home floor in Game 5 of the NBA Finals by a score of 94-89.

Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray have proven to be arguably the best duo in the league, and they combined to finish the night with 42 points, 24 rebounds and 12 assists.

After winning their first title, Jokic jokingly threw Murray in the pool with him, and the clip went viral on social media.

The 2023 season was magical for the Nuggets, as they also finished as the first seed in the Western Conference.

Before beating the Heat, they defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers through the first three rounds to make the Finals.

Jokic (28) and Murray (26) have been teammates for six seasons, and since they are both in the primes of their careers, there is an excellent chance the Nuggets will be contenders for many more years.

Despite an abundance of competitive teams over the decades, this was the first time the Nuggets had ever been to the Finals.

Jokic won the Finals MVP Award and finished the postseason with sensational averages of 30.0 points, 13.5 rebounds, 9.5 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.0 blocks per contest while shooting 54.8% from the field and 46.1% from the three-point range.

Meanwhile, Murray averaged 26.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 7.1 assists and 1.5 steals per contest while shooting 47.3% from the field and 39.6% from the three-point range.
