Why Is This Recent Phoenix Suns Rim Protector Still A Free Agent?
Bismack Biyombo is coming off a solid year where he played a key role for the Phoenix Suns.
The veteran center averaged 4.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per contest while shooting 57.8% from the field in 61 regular season games (he also appeared in eight NBA playoff games).
This summer, Biyombo became a free agent, and he is still available to be signed by any team in the league on October 17.
Biyombo was initially the seventh pick in the 2011 NBA Draft and has played 12 seasons in the league for the Charlotte Bobcats/Hornets, Orlando Magic and Toronto Raptors.
His career averages are 5.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per contest while shooting 53.3% from the field in 799 regular season games.
He has also appeared in 40 NBA playoff games and helped the Raptors reach the Eastern Conference Finals in 2016.
Considering Biyombo is only 31, he could still be a fantastic addition to many teams as a backup center.
Last year with the Suns, he proved that he can still be a reliable rim protector.
The 2023-24 NBA season begins on October 24, so Biyombo will be a name to watch.
The Suns are coming off a season where they were the fourth seed in the Western Conference.
They beat the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of the NBA playoffs in five games but lost to the Denver Nuggets (in six games).
That said, the Suns have one of the best rosters led by Devin Booker, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal.
