3 NBA Teams That Should Sign Bol Bol

I believe the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors should take a look at signing Bol Bol.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Orlando Magic announced that they had waived Bol Bol.     

Last year, the former Oregon star averaged a career-high 9.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.2 blocks per contest while shooting 54.6% from the field in 70 regular season games (33 starts).

I believe that three teams should take a look at signing the 23-year-old.  

Who?

• Golden State Warriors: The Warriors are known for bringing the best out of their role players, and the team is in need of size. Last year, they ranked 25th in the NBA for blocks per game (4.0), and Bol Bol proved that he is capable of being an above-average rim protector. In addition, he is 7'2", while no one on the Warriors' roster is over 6'9".

• Dallas Mavericks: Last season, the Mavs ranked 28th in the NBA for blocks per game (3.7) and 29th for rebounds (47.5). Therefore, Bol Bol would be a great addition to their bench. Even though the Mavs missed the 2023 NBA Playoffs, they are in win-now mode with superstars Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic on the roster. 

Had heard the Magic were looking at dealing Bol Bol dating back to the NBA Draft. Two teams mentioned were Phoenix and Dallas, but the Suns have flushed out their veteran minimum centers. Wonder if Bol could be in the Mavericks’ plans if Dallas can find a deal for JaVale McGee.

• Los Angeles Lakers:  The Lakers are coming off a season where they made the Western Conference Finals. However, superstar big man Anthony Davis has been unable to play more than 56 regular season games per year over the last three seasons. Therefore, Bol Bol would be fantastic insurance to take pressure off of Davis during the regular season. In addition, they waived backup center Mo Bamba last month. 

The Lakers do have a $2.7 mil Trade exception left over from, ironically, the Patrick Beverley trade with the Magic that brought in Mo Bamba. No sense on whether or not LA would want to claim Bol Bol, simply saying that it’s theoretically possible https://t.co/P445mO5Rnb
