3x NBA Champion The Boston Celtics Must Consider Signing
The Boston Celtics have been the best team in the NBA through the first half of the 2023-24 season.
With Sunday's 116-107 victory over the Houston Rockets, they are 33-10 in their first 43 games, which has them as the first seed in the Eastern Conference.
There is not much that the Celtics need to add to their team, but they do have an open roster spot.
I believe a good option to fill their 15th spot would be three-time NBA Champion Danny Green.
Why?
At this point in Green's career, joining a contender would be the only thing that makes sense.
He is 36 years old and coming off a year where he averaged 5.5 points and 1.3 rebounds per contest while shooting 44.9% from the field and 43.2% from the three-point range in 11 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Memphis Grizzlies (he also appeared in four NBA playoff games).
The Celtics have been so dominant that Green would not need to be added to the rotation during the regular season.
However, he would provide excellent depth in case of injury.
In addition, Green would be an intriguing option to be able to bring off the bench in a playoff series.
He has immense experience playing in big moments, appearing in an astonishing 169 NBA playoff games.
The Celtics have been to the Eastern Conference Finals five times over the previous seven seasons and reached the 2022 NBA Finals.
That said, they have been unable to win a title since 2008, so adding a veteran like Green could only help their chances.
