Boston Celtics Player Reportedly Wants A Trade
On Monday evening, the Boston Celtics had their season come to an end when they lost Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals (on their home floor) to the Miami Heat.
They had a chance to become the first team in NBA history to overcome a 3-0 deficit in a Playoff series but were blown out by a score of 103-84.
The franchise has been to the Eastern Conference Finals five times in the previous seven seasons but has yet to win an NBA Championship since 2008.
Payton Pritchard, who was the 26th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, has been with the team for the last three seasons.
However, this season he played a career-low 13.4 minutes per game (and only 5.7 minutes per game during the Playoffs).
The former Oregon star showed promise during his rookie season, averaging 7.7 points per contest while shooting 41.1% from the three-point range.
On Thursday, The Athletic's Jared Weiss and Jay King reported that the 25-year-old would like to be traded.
Via The Athletic NBA: "Payton Pritchard has made it clear he hopes to be traded this summer, sources tell The Athletic."
Based on his lack of playing time, the report comes as no surprise and he could end up being a solid addition for a team in need of a backup point guard.
Over three seasons, Pritchard has averages of 6.6 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per contest while shooting 43.0% from the field and 40.0% from the three-point range in 185 regular season games.
