Dallas Mavericks Reportedly "Expected" To Trade 10-Year NBA Veteran
Tim Hardaway Jr. has been a solid player in the NBA for the previous ten seasons.
The 31-year-old is coming off a season where he averaged 14.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists per contest while shooting 40.1% from the field and 38.5% from the three-point range in 71 regular season games for the Dallas Mavericks.
He currently has two years and $34 million left on his contract.
According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line (in his newsletter on Substack), the Mavs are "expected" to trade the former Michigan star.
Stein Via His Article On The Stein Line: "Trading Tim Hardaway Jr. and either trading or releasing JaVale McGee remain expected moves beyond all of the action in North Texas so far."
In addition to the Mavs, Hardaway Jr. has also played for the Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks.
His career averages are 14.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest while shooting 42.0% from the field and 36.1% from the three-point range in 657 regular season games (he has also appeared in 28 NBA playoff games).
He has the ability to get hot and score 20+ points on any given night, so there is no question that (if the finances work out) several teams should have an interest.
This past year, Hardaway Jr. scored 20+ points in 20 out of his 71 regular season games.
As for the Mavs, they have a talented roster but went just 38-44 and were the 11th seed in the Western Conference during the 2023 season.
