Dallas Mavericks Reportedly Interested In NBA Champion
The NBA offseason is picking up, as rumors all over the league are being reported daily.
This week, the 2023 NBA Draft will take place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, and free agency will start on June 30.
On Sunday, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported many intriguing details from around the league.
One of the things he mentioned was that the Dallas Mavericks have an interest in 2015 NBA Champion Harrison Barnes (who will be a free agent).
Via Scotto's article on HoopsHype: "Another forward the Mavericks are interested in heading toward free agency is Harrison Barnes, league sources told HoopsHype."
Barnes has been in the NBA for 11 seasons and has spent the last four and half seasons with the Sacramento Kings.
This past year, the veteran forward averaged 15.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest while shooting 47.3% from the field and 37.4% from the three-point range.
He played a significant role in the Kings making the NBA Playoffs for the first time since 2006.
Barnes was the seventh pick in the 2012 NBA Draft out of North Carolina by the Golden State Warriors and helped them make the Finals two seasons in a row (2015-16).
Following the Warriors, Barnes spent two and a half seasons with the Mavs.
That said, they did not make the Playoffs during his tenure with the franchise.
Last season, the Mavs were the 11th seed in the Western Conference, so despite having an elite roster, they missed the Playoffs (and the play-in tournament).
