On Friday evening, the Golden State Warriors had their season come to an end when they lost Game 6 of their second-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers by a score of 122-101.

The 2022 NBA Champions had an up-and-down season and never quite looked like a dominant team.

Jonathan Kuminga, who was the seventh pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, had a solid regular season averaging 9.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest while shooting 52.5% from the field and 37.0% from the three-point range.

However, the 20-year-old saw limited playing time during the 2023 NBA Playoffs.

He averaged just 3.4 points per contest in 6.6 minutes of playing time (over ten games).

After Game 6, Anthony Slater and Shams Charania of The Athletic reported intel on the state of the Warriors moving forward.

Slater and Charania added details about Kuminga's future with the franchise and alluded that he could want a trade if he doesn't have a significant role next season.

Via Slater and Charania's article in The Athletic: "The Warriors and Kuminga’s representatives are expected to discuss his future this offseason, league sources say. Golden State will need to decide whether Kuminga will receive a full-time role moving forward, and, if not, league sources say the No. 7 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft will want to be somewhere he can play more."

Based on where he was drafted (and his potential), Kuminga could be able to bring back substantial assets (if the Warriors were to trade him).

Steph Curry (35), Klay Thompson (33) and Draymond Green (33) are all at the back end of their primes.

Therefore, it may be wise for the franchise to see if they can get veterans to help the team compete for the 2024 NBA Championship.
