Golden State Warriors Reportedly "Getting Calls" For 2 Key Players
The Golden State Warriors won the 2022 NBA Championship over the Boston Celtics and have won four titles (and been to the Finals six times) over the previous nine seasons.
That said, the franchise was unable to have the same success in 2023, losing to the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the NBA Playoffs (in six games).
On Friday, Andscape's Marc J. Spears, appearing on ESPN's NBA Today, reported that the Warriors are "getting calls" for Jordan Poole and Jonathan Kuminga.
Spears: "Golden State is also getting calls on Kuminga; they're getting calls on Jordan Poole."
Kuminga finished up his second season in the NBA with averages of 9.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest while shooting 52.5% from the field and 37.0% from the three-point range.
However, the 20-year-old didn't see the floor much during the postseason, as he only averaged 6.1 minutes of playing time.
For reference, he averaged 20.8 minutes of playing time during the regular season.
Meanwhile, Poole is coming off an impressive regular season with averages of 20.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per contest while shooting 43.0% from the field (he also played in every game).
That said, the former Michigan star saw his averages significantly drop during the postseason.
Through 13 games, he averaged 10.3 points, 2.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per contest while shooting 34.1% from the field and 25.4% from the three-point range.
On Friday, the Warriors announced Mike Dunleavy Jr. as their new general manager.
