Stephen A. Smith Reveals Shocking Trade Rumor About Kevin Durant
On Sunday afternoon, the Brooklyn Nets traded Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks in a blockbuster deal that shocked the NBA world (Shams Charania of The Athletic was the first to report).
Now, the attention has turned to 13-time NBA All-Star Kevin Durant.
Even though the Nets are 32-20 in 52 games, it's possible he could ask the franchise to move him (like he did in the offseason).
On Monday morning, Stephen A. Smith shared an intriguing report on ESPN's First Take about what he's been hearing.
Via Smith on First Take: "I'm hearing that he's on the verge of potentially being moved. Obviously, we've all been speculating about that, that he may be moved. They're on the phone. I'm hearing Boston is making some calls. Keep your eye on that, Jaylen Brown. Keep your eye on that."
Durant has been out since he got hurt on January 8 against the Miami Heat.
On the season, the two-time NBA Champion is averaging 29.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists per contest in 39 games.
He is also shooting 55.9% from the field and 37.6% from the three-point range.
This is his third season playing with the Nets, and overall the tenure has been a failure.
The franchise has only won one playoff series over the last two seasons despite having Irving (and James Harden during the 2021 NBA Playoffs).
Before the Nets, Durant made the NBA Finals three times in a row with the Golden State Warriors (and won the Finals MVP Award two times).
Meanwhile, the Celtics are the best team in the NBA, with a 37-16 record in 53 games.
