JDC-Miller will be seeing their iconic DPi livery moving to another customer team, with Proton Competition fielding the #5 for the 2024 season with Mustang Sampling.

The partnership, which was announced on the team’s X account, will feature the recognizable black and gold livery and will be shying away from the team’s red, white and blue WeatherTech livery from last season.

Proton will also be fielding the #5 for their team’s car number next season, resulting in JDC-Miller’s GTP car number for next season to now be unknown given the change.

The last time that we saw this livery was back in 2022, when JDC-Miller ran the #5 Mustang Sampling DPi in the series, winning a class even at Sebring in 2021.

Although the car has since been retired for IMSA competition due to the switch back to the revamped GTP class, the car still runs in certain historic races, such as the Historic Sportscar Racing event back at Daytona.

This time around, the Mustang Sampling colors won’t be on a Cadillac, rather a Porsche entry. And it is yet to be confirmed whether this livery will be run in the upcoming WEC season, given that the entry list has them running the #99.

Also, with Porsche Penske running the #5 in WEC, it is almost impossible for the #5 to be run for Proton Competition unless Porsche Penske decided to run the #7, similar to what numbers they run in IMSA.

Nevertheless, it will be exciting to see Mustang Sampling back on one of IMSA’s top class cars for 2024 and we will have to see what JDC-Miller Motorsports will be running for 2024 given the change of numbers for Proton.
