This weekend's racing schedule will be a real drag -- the NHRA Drag Racing Championship, that is!
The weeks to the end of the 2023 racing season continue to click away. First, IndyCar ended its season in September. Then, NASCAR wrapped things up last weekend at Phoenix.
And now this weekend, the National Hot Rod Association puts a wrap on its season with the In-n-Out Burger Finals at the LA County Fairplex in beautiful Pomona, Calif.
So, if you're a fan of other racing series but find yourself in need of a high-horsepower fix this weekend -- NHRA Top Fuelers and Funny Cars both have engines that spew out 11,000-plus horsepower and routinely hit 330-plus mph -- check out live coverage of the NHRA finale on FS1 or the NHRA.TV subscription service.
After this weekend, the only remaining major series left that will still be racing -- and it's only for another few weeks -- is Formula One, which next races in the much-hyped event on the strip in Las Vegas next weekend, and the season finale in Abu Dhabi Nov. 24-26.
After that, it's going to be a long, cold winter without any racing excitement -- unless you have several races from this year taped on your DVR.
One more thing: if you really get wrapped up in all the NHRA competition and then you go out to your car for a drive to the store, a restaurant or wherever you're going, don't pull up to a traffic light and pretend you're John Force, Ron Capps, Steve Torrence, Antron Brown or any of the other top NHRA drivers.
Because if you do, peeling out after the light goes green -- isn't just dangerous, it could also give you an up-close-and-personal meeting with the individual drag racers like to call "John E. Law."
Have a great weekend, everyone!
