The majority of the race saw incredibly clean battles including those from Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc at the race start and George Russell and Sergio Perez. However, with just ten laps to go, Lando Norris and Perez had contact which the latter received a five second penalty for.

On top of the Mexican driver's penalty, Lewis Hamilton, Pierre Gasly, Max Verstappen, Logan Sargeant, and Zhou Guanyu are all set to be investigated after the session for potential pit lane infringements. It was reported that these infringements were related to team members not wearing the correct eyewear which would usually result in monetary fines rather than time penalties.
