Footage has been revealed of an F1 Alpine car being tested on track at Silverstone and eagled-eyed fans are trying to work out if it is the new 2023 car which is due to be released later this week.

A Twitter user, @EngineMode1, posted the video writing:

"Ok pixel peepers, there’s an Alpine on track at Silverstone today but is it the new car or the old one?"

Another F1 fan responded:

"@AstonMartinF1 are doing a TikTok live & you can hear the Alpine in the background & the Aston social media guy said they're doing a filming day so it's most likely the new car"

Whereas someone else commented:

"It's last year's livery, don't think they are sponsored by BWT anymore."

However, another Twitter user disagreed:

"Nope, more black behind the sidepod and the red from MAPFRE is missing on the side of the nose."

Someone else wrote:

"I feel like the black at the back is way more visible, so perhaps a new(er) livery? And the FW endplates look straight on this one. They weren't on last year's. But we're comparing pixels here."

A theme we are seeing from the livery releases so far is much more exposed carbon fibre incorporated into the designs to aid weight reduction. This could be why more black can be seen on the video of the Alpine.

Another fan pointed out that the team would surely only be testing the new car behind closed doors ahead of the 2023 season. They commented:

"New car surely? Not sure why they would be running the old car in 2023 behind closed doors."

Someone else responded:

"Perhaps 22 car with some new 23 bits on it. Definitely more black on the sidepod, perhaps to hide something. Sidepod themselves look a bit different, hard to tell from this picture really."

Alpine will be unveiling the A532 during an event in London on Thursday 16 February.
