Max Verstappen has won the Austin GP Sprint Race after starting from pole position on the grid.

Following the Red Bull driver to cross the line were Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc who finished in second and third place, respectively.

All of the drivers opted to start on the medium tyre compounds apart from Ferrari's Carlos Sainz who started on softs.

Mercedes seem to have found some significant improvements with the latest upgrades. Lewis Hamilton had a great start getting from third to second and George Russell also gained three positions in the first two laps. 

Max Verstappen was complaining of some grip issues, whilst Sergio Perez slowly made his way up the grid.

Penalty: Russell was handed a 5 second penalty for overtaking Oscar Piastri whilst off the track. 

Lap 9: Oscar Piastri was shown the black and white flag for track limits. One more infringement and he would receive a penalty.

Fans saw some incredible battles between Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz as well as Yuki Tsunoda and Kevin Magnussen. 

With just three laps to go, Lance Stroll was forced to retire from the race after a troublesome weekend so far. 

Penalty: Zhou Guanyu was also handed a five second penalty for overtaking off the track.
