Max Verstappen has taken the first pole position of the 2024 season for the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Joining the Red Bull driver at the front of the grid for the Saturday night race are Charles Leclerc and George Russell who will be starting from second and third place on the grid, respectively.

It was a bad start to the year for Alpine after both Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly were eliminated and will start the Grand Prix from the back of the pack. Surprisingly, both Haas drivers made it out of Q1 after predictions of the American team being at the back of the grid.

Out in Q1

  1. Valtteri Bottas
  2. Zhou Guanyu
  3. Logan Sargeant
  4. Esteban Ocon
  5. Pierre Gasly

Out in Q2

  1. Yuki Tsunoda
  2. Lance Stroll
  3. Alex Albon
  4. Daniel Ricciardo
  5. Kevin Magnussen

Although Magnussen found himself eliminated in Q2, his teammate Nico Hulkenberg was finding some decent pace in the Haas. Going into Q3, it seemed as though it would be between Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc for pole position.

Both Mercedes drivers, George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, seemed to be struggling with the set-up of the W15.
