Charles Leclerc has taken pole position for the Belgian Grand Prix on Sunday.

Joining the Ferrari driver at the front of the grid are Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton who will be starting the race from second and third place, respectively. Although Max Verstappen put in the fastest time, he will not start from pole position due to a five-place grid penalty.

After a rain-soaked Free Practice One session earlier today and a delayed start to qualifying, the sun decided to come out. With the track still drying up, the drivers came out on intermediate tyres.

Track limits was an issue for many of the drivers with multiple track times being deleted.

Lando Norris ran wide and into the gravel leaving the McLaren team concerned that there could be some damage to the front wing.

Bad news for Daniel Ricciardo and Nico Hulkenberg as the former had a lap time deleted leaving him starting in nineteenth and the latter suffering from hydraulics issues meaning he couldn't get out on track in time to get another lap time in so will start from the back.

  2. Zhou Guanyu
  3. Logan Sargeant
  4. Daniel Ricciardo

Valtteri Bottas was the first to try slick tyres during Q2 as the track began to dry up. With just under seven minutes to go, it will be imperative for teams to make the right decision on tyres at the right time. The majority of drivers followed suit but then quickly switched back to intermediates.

With less than three minutes to go of Q2, Esteban Ocon ran wide at Turn 9 colliding with the race wall and sustaining damage to his front wing.

Max Verstappen got through with the skin of his teeth putting in only the tenth fastest lap time during Q2.

Out in Q2

  1. Yuki Tsunoda
  2. Pierre Gasly
  3. Kevin Magnussen
  4. Valtteri Bottas
  5. Esteban Ocon

Max Verstappen put in the fastest time during Q3, however, as he has a 5-place grid penalty due to exceeding the number of gearboxes allocated, Charles Leclerc takes pole position.
