F1 Academy Driver Bianca Bustamante Credits Halo For Saving Her Life After Horrific Crash

F1 Academy driver Bianca Bustamante has shared that the halo saved her life during a scary crash during the race in Monza, Italy today.

F1 Academy driver Bianca Bustamante has credited the halo to saving her after suffering from a scary crash during the race in Italy.

Bustamante crashed at Turn 1 with Chloe Grant, who was taken to the medical centre but was thankfully later cleared. The Prema Racing driver explained to her followers:

"Walked away from this one. She kept me safe.

"Made 2 positions up in the start heading to T1, I was hit from behind and the car [Chloe Grant] flew on top of me. Tires went over my head but the Halo saved my life today."

This is not the first example of how important the halo is. For example, Alfa Romeo F1 driver Zhou Guanyu recently spoke out on his horrific crash at the 2022 British Grand Prix where his car was flipped and slid across the gravel before flying up and colliding with the catch fencing. The Chinese driver has said that the halo is the main reason he was able to walk away from the scary crash with no major injuries.

Fans were quick to react to Bustamante's message, one fan commented:

"So glad you and Chloe are okay. It’s moments like these where the importance of the halo really shines."

Another fan commented that moments like this emphasise the importance of the halo. They posted:

"So glad everyone is ok!! the halo really is the best invention the sport has seen in years"

Bustamante is currently in eighth position in the F1 Academy drivers' standings with 69 points with eight races to go of the inaugural season.
