F1 Academy Set To Be Broadcast Live In Huge Step Forward For The All-Female Racing Series
F1 Academy Managing Director Susie Wolff has confirmed a huge step forward for the all-female racing series.
As the motorsport heads into the summer break, similarly to Formula One, Wolff shared the exciting news that the F1 Academy will now be broadcast so fans will be able to watch all of the on-track action.
Wolff wrote to social media:
"Grateful to be part of such a talented and passionate team, even though there are many faces missing in this photo from @f1 HQ and those currently in Spa.
"Together, we are working hard to bring the @f1academy vision to life. Today also marks our last race weekend before we join @f1 and from that point onwards - @f1academy races will be shown live.
"Onwards and upwards but now… it’s time for some summer holidays"
It is currently not clear if the broadcast will just be on F1TV or if it will be available on Sky Sports or ESPN.
This marks a huge step forward for the all-female racing series and will finally give the drivers a bigger platform. It has been a common complaint since the series began that fans struggled to follow along with what was happening which also made it difficult for fans to have a team and driver to support.
Fans have been sharing their excitement for the news. One fan commented:
"YESSS!! finally we get to see our brilliant drivers shine live. thank you."
Another fan responded to the news:
"Great Job Susie, prepare an entire generation of great women pilots, it’s amazing and really disrupting the F1 culture!!!!!! New leadership, model new culture a new and better way to improve the inclusive culture in the entire world"
Round 7, which is the final stage, of the F1 Academy is due to take place on 20-22 October in Austin which will be part of the Formula One race weekend.
