Alex Albon has received great praise from team boss James Vowles after his impressive seventh finish at Monza. Not to forget the Williams FW45's advantage in straight-line speed that helped him fend off multiple charges from McLaren's Lando Norris.

With Norris taking the MCL60 off, Albon was on his way to finishing sixth before being overtaken by Lewis Hamilton. However, that didn't stop him from earning a points finish. Vowles has been over the moon with Albon's exemplary performance despite the car's pace being "slightly behind." He told Sky Sports F1

"Just incredible.

"We sort of make it look easy, at least Alex does anyway. I think Alex did a sterling job with it.

"You can see that across Montreal, Silverstone and here, we don't quite have that race pace, but we have a driver out there that can get his elbows out and just fight for those last points. That's what he did today.

"He did a sterling job, again not a foot wrong on that. Seventh I think is really just reward. The car pace was slightly behind where he did, he shone relative to that."

Currently, Williams sits in the seventh spot in the constructors' championship while Alex Albon secures himself in the 13th spot in the drivers' standings- courtesy of being within the top ten at the Bahrain Grand Prix, the Canadian Grand Prix, the British Grand Prix, and the Dutch Grand Prix.

On the other hand, teammate Logan Sargeant finished 13th at Monza after dropping down two places from 11th due to the penalty levied on him for his role in a collision with Valtteri Bottas. The American driver has been gradually scaling up his performance and Vowles has been noting all of that.

Motivating him, Vowles gave the following message over the radio after Sargeant lost two places to the penalty:

"Well done Logan tough fight there today you held your own for a long long period of time. That point with your name is still out there."
