F1 News: Aston Martin Upgrades Revealed In Full For Spanish Grand Prix

The FIA reveals Aston Martin upgrades for the Spanish Grand Prix.

Ferrari isn't the only team to bring upgrades for the Spanish Grand Prix. Aston Martin will also be bringing upgrades, with these reportedly improving the AMR23's performance by around 2-tenths per lap.

"We have some new parts. I'm not sure exactly what, you will see it on the documents that the FIA is releasing (on Friday)," Alonso told Sky Sports F1 today. "I think front wing, there is some modification there, and we're bringing always new parts to the car. Some of them are just circuit-specific, sometimes it's just an improvement in lap time."

Now, the FIA has released official documents showcasing the upgrades the Silverstone-based team is bringing. Here's what they say.

Front Wing

Primary Reason for update: Performance - Local Load

Geometric differences: The front wing flap has a different twist distribution with less variation in height across the trailing edge, also to suit the new tip. There are two versions of this flap available for different aerobalance ranges.

The flap modifies the spanwise load distribution of the front wing to improve the overall performance and the downstream effects.

Front Wing Endplate

Primary Reason for update: Performance - Local Load

Geometric differences: The sections in the FWEP tip are distributed differently compared to the previous version of front wing.

The new geometry improves how the tip of the wing interacts with the tyre behind it for better performance through the operating envelope.

Nose

Primary Reason for update: Performance - Load Conditioning

Geometric differences: The nose camera incidence has been modified.

Due to different onset conditions the nose camera incidence was re-aligned to improve the interaction and improve local downstream conditions.

Rear Wing Endplate

Primary Reason for update: Performance - Local Load

Geometric differences: There are detail changes to the endplate tip and some additional material on the inboard face of the main body. This can be used with two upper assys.

The upper rear wing performance is improved by changes to the loading affected by the endplate, along with some load on the component itself.

Beam Wing

Primary Reason for update: Performance - Local Load

Geometric differences: There are two subtly different beam wings to suit the new endplates.

The modifications are just small improvements to work with the new endplate and improve the distribution of load across the span of the wing.
