F1 News: Brad Pitt Joins Lewis Hamilton In British GP Celebrations
Brad Pitt, Hollywood A-lister, had an unforgettable experience at the British Grand Prix, where he took part in pre-race national anthem to film scenes for his upcoming Formula One project. Pitt was heard expressing his excitement, "I'm having the time of my life."
This new film, which is yet to be titled, sees Brad Pitt and Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time world champion Mercedes driver, collaborate as co-producers, with the former taking a lead on the film, too. Notably, Joe Kosinski, known for 'Top Gun: Maverick,' sits in the director's chair.
At Silverstone, Pitt was in character alongside co-star Dalton Idris. The pair play fictional racing drivers Sonny Hayes and Joshua Pearce, and the two, garbed in racing gear, joined the F1 drivers for the national anthem, a customary proceeding before every F1 race, representing the fictional team 'APX GP.'
In a pre-recorded interview with Sky Sports, Pitt shared his thrill at being on the grid.
"I'm a little giddy right now, I've got to say. It's great to be here. Having such a laugh, time of my life."
The actor also revealed a brief insight into the plot and confirmed the involvement of actor Javier Bardem.
Pitt shared with Sky Sports:
"So [Sonny Hayes] has a horrible crash, kind of craps out and disappears and is racing in other disciplines. His friend, played by Javier Bardem, is a team owner. They're a last placed owner, 21, 22 on the grid.
"They've never scored a point. They have a young phenom played by Dansom Idris. He brings me in as a kind of Hail Mary and hijinx ensue."
During the quieter moments of Silverstone's schedule, Pitt and the film's stunt drivers had a go in a modified F2 car fitted with several high-tech cameras mounted on the cars. Speaking on this experience, Pitt remarked:
"I wanna say. For all the armchair experts out there. You've got to give us a little breathing room if you see any spin-outs, or something that looks like a stall -- it's by design!"
While much about the movie remains under wraps, Pitt gave a small hint about what fans could anticipate.
"Tell you what's amazing about it. You'll see the cameras mounted all over the car. You've never seen speed, you've never seen the G-forces like this. It's really amazing."
