Carlos Sainz's future at Ferrari has been a topic of much discussion with his current contract due to expire at the end of the 2024 season. While his teammate Charles Leclerc seems on the verge of securing a multi-year mega-deal, Sainz's situation appears more complex, with talks hinting at a possible one-year commitment.

Addressing his contract status at an event hosted by one of his personal sponsors, Sainz shared his thoughts, as quoted by SoyMotor

"My first priority is obviously to renew at Ferrari, to continue for many more years, then I will be happy."

Sainz also spoke about the current state of his negotiations with Ferrari. He did not directly comment on the rumours regarding the difficulties in talks but clarified his expectations: 

"Of course I want to extend and if I extend, I would like to do it for more than one year.

"I feel perfectly appreciated by Fred [Vasseur], by the whole Ferrari family and that is why I want to extend my contract."

While the Spaniard also has interest in Sauber with his links to Audi, he remains focused on Ferrari. He concludes with a positive outlook, saying:

"If we both want it, we will come to an agreement."
