The Formula 1 community was caught off guard by the news of Carlos Sainz's health issues during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix weekend. Initially participating in the practice sessions, Sainz's condition deteriorated, leading to a diagnosis of appendicitis and the subsequent need for surgery.

In his first message post-surgery, shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Sainz conveyed his relief and appreciation for the support he's received.

"Underwent a smooth operation today and I’m feeling much better! Thank you for all your kind messages and to everyone that has looked after me these days here in Saudi, especially at the King Fahad Armed Forces Hospital. THANK YOU 🙏🏻," Sainz wrote.

"Great Quali from @OllieBearman on his hasty debut (not easy at all) and from Lord Perceval (a.k.a. @Charles_Leclerc ) Good luck for tomorrow @ScuderiaFerrari!"

Sainz didn't miss the opportunity to applaud his stand-in, Oliver Bearman, for his impressive qualifying performance on such short notice, as well as his teammate Charles Leclerc.

The latter finished qualifying on the first row of the grid, splitting the Red Bulls with Max Verstappen on pole. Bearman put in an excellent qualifying performance for his first time as a Ferrari F1 driver, finishing P11 on the grid.

Sainz's absence from the grid was a significant blow to Ferrari, but the situation presented an unexpected opportunity for Bearman to showcase his talent at the highest level of motorsport.

Tomorrow will be an exciting race for the young Briton.
