F1 News: Daniel Ricciardo Gives Fans Recovery Update With Graphic Scar
AlphaTauri driver Daniel Ricciardo has given an update on his recovery on Instagram. Out of the two uploaded images and a video, one of them displays a massive wound with stitches as a result of the surgery performed on his wrist where the doctors inserted a plate with four screws.
The injury occurred as a result of a crash during the free practice of the Dutch Grand Prix which saw Ricciardo crash his F1 car into the barrier at high speeds. He failed to take his hands off the wheel during the crash, which caused severe injury to his fifth metacarpal.

Red Bull reserve driver Liam Lawson took over Ricciardo's seat during the Dutch and Italian Grands Prix. Despite reports that Ricciardo could return to race at the Singapore Grand Prix depending on the speed of his recovery, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner recently confirmed that won't be possible. In fact, he even added that it would be optimistic to see him race in Japan.
Ricciardo's social media post which he called "Relatively unchanged," has attracted 614,000 likes and over 4000 comments in just three hours with eager fans wishing him a speedy recovery.
The upcoming Red Bull Formula Nurburgring this weekend would witness Red Bull F1 cars roar past the historic Nordschleife of the Nürburgring after 10 long years. Sadly though, Ricciardo won't be able to be a part of it due to the injury. Replacing him on the grid would be former F1 driver David Coulthard, alongside F1 star Sebastian Vettel and AlphaTauri driver Yuki Tsunoda.
Formula 1 reporter and presenter Lawrence Barretto also gave an update on Ricciardo's recovery. He tweeted on X stating:
"Sources say Daniel Ricciardo is cracking on with rehab but it might be some time before he returns. He's remaining upbeat, though.
"Sensibly, he's waiting to be fully fit before coming back. There's no point rushing, especially as he had impressed in his first two races back."
The injury occurred during Ricciardo's third race this season, which just leaves him with two Grand Prix finishes so far. Despite his contract expiring at the end of this year, there is plenty of hope that it will be renewed for the next season.
