The event is known as the 'Netflix Cup' since it is organized by the American subscription video-on-demand streaming platform, which is also famous for its 'Drive To Survive' documentary series based on Formula 1. The series has played a big role in helping the sport reach the American masses over the last five years.

Coming to the event, there will be four, two-man teams competing over eight holes in total. In the end, the final tussle will be held between the two leading teams over the ninth hole to decide the winner.

Speaking about Netflix's first-ever live sports event, Gabe Spitzer, Vice President of Non-Fiction Sports at Netflix, told the media:

“We love to see how our sports series have brought increased fandom to sports leagues and competitions all over the world.

"The Netflix Cup will take that energy to the next level with global stars from two popular hits competing in our first-ever live sports event.”

Chief Commercial Officer of the Las Vegas Grand Prix Emily Prazer gave due credit to the Netflix series on Formula 1 for playing a significant role in the growth of F1 in the US. She added:

“The continued success of Drive to Survive has played a significant role in the growth of Formula 1 in the US, which has ultimately led to the addition of a third American race.

"It’s only fitting that we kick off our inaugural race weekend with a fun event that can be streamed by F1 and PGA TOUR fans around the globe.”
