F1 News: Fans Rage Over Shocking Andretti Announcement - "Absolutely Disgraceful"
F1 fans have been taking to social media following the shocking news from Formula One Management that Andretti's bid to enter the grid has been rejected.
Andretti Formula Racing's application to join the F1 World Championship was not approved by Formula One Management, citing a lack of value addition to the competition. Concerns were raised about Andretti's competitiveness, especially due to their proposed partnership with General Motors, which lacks an immediate power unit supply, raising doubts about their ability to secure podiums and enhance fan engagement.
Additionally, Andretti's plan to build cars for consecutive regulatory cycles with differing requirements was viewed as overly ambitious. The potential operational and financial burdens of adding an 11th team, without clear benefits to the Championship's commercial results, were also highlighted. Despite Andretti's significant preparations, including car development and team expansion, the review concluded that their entry would not contribute positively to the Championship, suggesting a re-evaluation for the 2028 season with a GM power unit might be viewed more favourably.
