Two-time F1 champion Fernando Alonso has just started a TikTok account and fans were not ready.

The Aston Martin team revealed to social media yesterday that the Spanish driver had joined the platform and within a few hours he had already racked up 138,900 followers.

Fans shared the news to Reddit, one wrote:

"Fernando Alonso just created a TikTok account."

Other Reddit users quickly put two and two together noting that TikTok is one of the Aston Martin teams sponsors. They wrote:

"Probably because Aston Martin is sponsored by TikTok. We’ll see how long this last until TikTok gets banned"

Another user shared their excitement to see Alonso on the platform, writing:

"Alonso is so unserious I love it. I gain 5 years of life every time he posts a Facebook mother style selfie or has excessive emoji usage. He's been posting thirst trap gym content recently which is great. Whoever decided to throw this man into social media hell deserves a raise because it was a fantastic idea."

Someone else commented:

"This is the only thing that's ever tempted me to get tiktok" [sic]

Another user mentioned Alonso's recent comments on his new teammate Lance Stroll. The F1 icon said Stroll has the potential to be a future drivers' championship winner. The Reddit user commented:

"First he makes that ridiculous statement about how Stroll is a future title contender, then creates a Tiktok account.

"For sure he's been hit on the head during practice?!"

Alonso shared his first video to the platform announcing his arrival on TikTok which has already been play 1.2 million times.

Alonso is heading into the 2023 season with a new team after parting ways with Alpine at the end of 2022 and taking Sebastian Vettel's Aston Martin seat after he announced his retirement.
