F1 News: Ferrari Chief Defends Max Verstappen And Red Bull Amid 2023 Dominance

Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur has defended Red Bull and Max Verstappen amid ongoing complaints of the sport being "boring" and "predictable".

Ferrari team chief Fred Vasseur has defended Max Verstappen and Red Bull over complaints of the motorsport being "boring" from fans.

Red Bull has dominated the 2023 season winning all twelve races so far. Max Verstappen has won ten of those twelve Grand Prix and his teammate Sergio Perez has won the other two.

After calls for the Austrian team to be hindered to bring the grid closer together and fans claiming the race weekends are becoming boring due to their predictability, the Ferrari team chief was asked to comment on the current situation.

Speaking during the Belgian Grand Prix weekend, Vasseur explained to the media:

"We have to collectively do a better job.

"Everybody is in the same situation: we are all a bit inconsistent, with one or two-tenths between P2 and P11.

"It is not that Max is damaging [F1], Max is doing a fantastic job and it is just that we have to do better. We can't complain about Max or Red Bull.

"It is quite impossible to split between driver and team [who brings more performance].

"The driver is also developing and setting the car up and that is part of the performance.

"For sure, when you see the result and there is a big difference between the two teammates, that is not my issue, but the issue of Red Bull."

Charles Leclerc inherited pole position for the race at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit after Max Verstappen took a five-place grid penalty for exceeding the allocated number of gearboxes per season. However, the Monegasque driver was not able to keep the lead of the race for long but did manage to secure the third spot on the podium.

The F1 is now heading into the summer break with the next race set to take place on 25-27 August for the Dutch Grand Prix.
