In a recent development that has captivated the Formula One world, the FIA has officially closed its investigation into Toto Wolff, the CEO and team principal of Mercedes, and his wife, Susie Wolff, the managing director of the F1 Academy. This investigation was initiated following concerns raised by several F1 team principals about the possibility of conflicts of interest and the Wolffs having access to confidential information, which could have given the Mercedes team an unfair advantage.

The investigation, led by FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, involved the FIA Compliance Department and focused on the roles of both Toto and Susie Wolff. It scrutinised Toto's potential misuse of confidential information from Formula One Management (FOM) and Susie Wolff's recent appointment as F1 Academy's managing director, particularly her connection to F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali.

Despite these concerns, the FIA's official statement indicated that their review found the FOM's compliance management system robust enough to prevent any unauthorized disclosure of confidential information.

They stated:

"Following a review of Formula One Management's F1 Code of Conduct and F1 Conflict of Interest Policy and confirmation that appropriate protective measures are in place to mitigate any potential conflicts, the FIA is satisfied that FOM's compliance management system is robust enough to prevent any unauthorized disclosure of confidential information."

Furthermore, the FIA declared:

"The FIA can confirm that there is no ongoing investigation in terms of ethical or disciplinary inquiries involving any individual. As the regulator, the FIA has a duty to maintain the integrity of global motorsport. The FIA reaffirms its commitment to integrity and fairness."

The F1 community has shown a divided response to this investigation. While some expressed concerns over the integrity and fairness of the sport, every F1 team have publicly supported the Wolffs. They confirmed their backing of the F1 Academy and its managing director, denying any involvement in the complaints against the power couple.
