F1 News: Force India's Legendary Car Sold For A Shockingly Low Price

Force India's F1 car driven by Giancarlo Fisichella has been sold at the Goodwood Festival of Speed auction for an incredibly low price.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed hosted a thrilling auction, including well-known F1 cars and rare automotive memorabilia. Remarkably, one of the vehicles on offer was the Force India car, driven to pole position by Giancarlo Fisichella in the 2009 Belgian Grand Prix.

Despite the countless millions spent by the team to accelerate its performance, it was snapped up at a surprisingly economical price of just £70,000. Moreover, several other F1 cars were also up for auction, along with numerous pieces of racing memorabilia that attracted plenty of attention from bidders. But the auction was not all about F1 - a renowned rally car also went under the hammer, fetching a staggering sum, while a particularly sought-after competition car was the star of the show.

Johnny Herbert's Lotus Mugen from '93 and '94 found a new home for £84,000, while the former Tyrell of Martin Brundle went for a mere £57,500. The priciest "F1" vehicle sold was a mock F1 car, the 2013 Lotus Type 125, designed for public purchase. Its gavel fell at £250,000.

In the memorabilia section, not all items met their reserves. A racing suit once worn by Sir Stirling Moss and a helmet signed by Mario Andretti were left unsold. However, two former F1 pieces associated with Lewis Hamilton did find buyers. Meanwhile, Damon Hill's old AC Cobra Mk IV fell short of its estimate, with the top bid standing at £70,000.

In the realm beyond F1, an Audi Quattro S1 Group B rally car commanded an astonishing £1,000,000, even though it was projected to fetch more. The auction's highest sale, however, belonged to the Koenigsegg CCGT GT1 Competition, which barely missed hitting the three-million-pound mark, selling for £2,950,000.
