On the last lap of the Singapore Grand Prix with him ready to take a podium position behind Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz, George Russell has left the track after complaining of poor traction.

The driver, putting up one hell of a fight against his teammate Lewis Hamilton following behind him in P4, gave in to the pressure and went straight at Turn 10 after hitting the wall to the right of the track.

Ferrari's Carlos Sainz finished in P1, followed by McLaren's Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton.

Hamilton said the following about Russell in the post-race interview:

"Extremely unfortunate for George we were pushing so hard to catch these guys. And our tyres were so hot. But I know he'll bounce back. He's been phenomenal all weekend."

More to come...
