F1 News: Guenther Steiner Speaks Out On Formula One Future - "Already Been Approached"
Former Haas team principal Guenther Steiner has revealed his thoughts on future endeavours following his departure from the American Formula 1 team. His candid conversation with Autosport indicates a relaxed approach to his career, focusing on opportunities that genuinely interest him.
Key Takeaways:
- Guenther Steiner emphasises his desire to remain calm and selective about his future career moves, hinting at a potential short-term involvement in F1 media.
- Steiner expresses his preference for a team principal role if he were to return to F1, but insists he will not actively seek out opportunities and will only accept roles that he truly enjoys.
- Financial stability from his Fibreworks Composites business affords Steiner the luxury of being selective, and he plans to take his time to decide on future ventures, ensuring they align with his interests and enjoyment.
Former Haas team principal Guenther Steiner has opened up about his future career plans, following his unexpected exit from the American Formula 1 team last week.
In his conversation with Autosport, Steiner stated:
"I just say, ‘just stay calm please’.”
Acknowledging the recent rumours of him making a move into F1 media, Steiner commented:
"If something comes along I like it, I do it. If not [I won’t]. In my life, always if I didn’t like to do something, I didn’t do it."
Steiner’s successful business venture away from Formula One, Fibreworks Composites, has provided him with financial security, allowing him to be choosy about his next role. While he has a preference for a team principal position, Steiner is clear that he is not actively seeking such opportunities. He added:
“So, I don’t know what is out there. But I’m not like phoning people up for a team principal job or something. Obviously, I don’t want to do anything else than a team principal job. If you’ve done it once…
“But it’s like, I’m ok [financially, thanks to the success of Steiner’s Fibreworks Composites business]. If something comes along which interests me, if people want me to do something, I do it.
“If I think it’s not interesting or it doesn’t satisfy me or I don’t enjoy it, I’m not going to do it. I’m not going to do it just to stay around. I think there is enough of things for me to stay around in Formula 1 – people will ask me to do things. But I can wait. I’ve already got approached for things.
“But I want to take a step back [first]. Not even step back. I just want to breathe fresh air. And then decide what I’m gonna do for my future. And I’m not 38 anymore. So, it’s like, if I do something, I want to enjoy it. Obviously, I [want] to do something people enjoy as well. Not just, ‘I want to be in F1 to be in F1’. That’s not my mission in life.”
