Lewis Hamilton has high hopes for the Singapore GP where he expects the W14 to perform relatively better. The high downforce Marina Bay Street Circuit is best-suited for the Mercedes which is known to deliver favourable results with its high downforce wing, when compared to high-speed tracks like Monza.

Hamilton has won the Singapore Grand Prix four times in the past whereas Verstappen is yet to make his mark on the street circuit. Referring to Monza as being the worst race this season where he finished sixth, he told Autosport.com:

“I feel like this [Monza] might be the worst one for us.

"Singapore is all high downforce and, when we put our high downforce wing on, we generally are a little bit better. Not as bad as here. So I hope I'm right.”

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff offered advice on gaining as much advantage as they can from the Singapore GP when he said “[We] have got to maximize [results].”

While the Singapore GP offers Mercedes a ray of hope, there are high chances it could turn out to be an unpredictable race for Red Bull as the Marina Bay Street Circuit isn't as RB19-friendly as the other recent Grand Prix circuits.

Verstappen suggested that the coming weekend might not be the best for Red Bull. He said:

“A little bit more difficult, I think for us.

"But we'll see. We'll do our best, and of course we'll try to go in there and try to win it again. But it's not, let's say, going to be the strongest weekend for us.”

Teammate Sergio Perez echoed similar sentiments, despite winning last year's Singapore GP. He said:

“I agree with Max, I think it's going to be a weekend where basically anything can happen.

"And hopefully we are able to have a very strong Saturday, because if you don't start on the front row, it's very unlikely that you will have a shot at the victory. So hopefully we can repeat what we did last year there.”

By the looks of it, the Singapore GP could be one of those races that the Mercedes fans have been eagerly waiting for for a long time as it offers their favorite team a chance to catch up on points.
