As Formula 1 heads into the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix weekend, the paddock readies for potential swings in weather conditions. The presence of rain, while quite a common feature this season and in Hungary's racing history, is forecasted to bypass Sunday's grand prix. However, Friday's practice sessions could feel the impact, with rains potentially disrupting the collection of valuable data.

Leading Up To The Race

Predictions from Weather.com paint the week preceding the Grand Prix as largely dry. Europe, currently under a severe heatwave, is experiencing temperatures that are no different in Hungary. Monday's is predicted to touch a scorching 34c, kicking off a slow cooling trend over the following days.

Friday - Free Practice 1 & 2

Friday ushers in lower temperatures around 28c, but a significant 70% rain probability throws a curveball. This risk of daytime thunderstorms could potentially align with the scheduled practice sessions. With the rain chances peaking at 80% overnight, the rubber laid during the day's practice might end up washed off the track ahead of the Saturday sessions.

Saturday - Free Practice 3 & Qualifying

Saturday's weather warms slightly while the risk of rain reduces to 40%. Forecasters have cautioned that thunderstorms may develop in the afternoon. These could add a challenging twist to the qualifying session, hopefully making it more exciting for fans and ending up with a mixed grid line-up for the Grand Prix.

Sunday - Grand Prix

On Sunday, the day of the Grand Prix, rain does not seem to be a threat with the odds dropping to a mere 20%. The weather is anticipated to be partly cloudy with temperatures hovering around 29c. While the humidity is expected to remain consistent at around 50% across the weekend, it seems that the race is likely to dodge significant weather disruptions.
