Former Formula One racer Timo Glock recently shared his insights on the influence of Netflix's series "Drive to Survive" on the world of Formula 1. He stated:

"Drive to Survive has opened up the sport to young people again. To have three races in America is incredible. In the past they had six cars on the grid at Indianapolis. Has it peaked though? We will see."

Glock, with his history in teams such as Jordan, Toyota, Virgin Racing, and Marussia F1, discussed the demanding nature of the sport today. He explained:

"It is but it is demanding for every driver. The drivers can’t show up at an airport and relax. There is constant attention. It is great in one way but if you can’t deal with it, it is exhausting over the whole season."

He also touched upon the mental challenges faced by drivers, especially rookie's.

"You need to be nice all the time, smile all the time, do endless interviews and sign autographs. But in the end, the fans come to see them, they made the sport great. They get paid well enough and that is part of the deal," said Glock.

"Mentally it is bigger than in the past. Having so many races. You can see the rookies struggle with it. I talked to Mark Webber about Oscar [Piastri] a bit. I remember my first year I was totally exhausted. I felt I had to be everywhere, and it takes so much energy. It has been the same for Oscar. He was super tired at the end of the season. Every rookie went through this, even Lando [Norris]," he added.

Max Verstappen - Red Bull

Glock concluded by highlighting the importance of balance, referencing Max Verstappen's focused approach:

"You need to find the right balance in every aspect of life. There is a reason why Max [Verstappen] was unhappy in Las Vegas because it takes energy and he is there to race, that’s his main focus. He doesn’t care about the Netflix stuff or the marketing events. That is another reason why he is so successful at the moment."
