Rumblings within the Formula 1 world about Max Verstappen's future have been louder than ever after he admitted he'd likely move on from F1 after his contract with Red Bull comes to an end. Now, the driver has admitted that Ferrari has been a dream team for him, but he'd need one thing confirmed if he was going to move.

The two-time World Champion, currently under contract with Red Bull until the end of the 2028 season, is open to the idea of moving to Ferrari. However, it comes with a significant caveat. They need to have the fastest car on the grid.

Max Verstappen - Red Bull

Verstappen's exit from F1 after his contract with Red Bull ends has been the topic of speculation within the F1 community. There's no doubt that the Dutch driver's star power is central to Red Bull's plans moving forward. Yet the whispers of a potential shift in scenery and a new challenge continue to echo around the paddock.

When asked about a potential 'dream team', Verstappen was candid in an interview with Sky F1.

“People always ask me if I have a dream team. I know Ferrari has an amazing history in Formula 1 and is an amazing team to race for, but I always said to myself I just want to be in the fastest car.

"I had to wait a few years to be in the fastest car," he continued. "And now we do have the fastest car and that is a great feeling."

Speculation about Verstappen's future will continue to bubble, but the driver himself seems content with his current situation. As he puts it:

"At this stage, if it happens, it happens but I’m very happy where I am and for me personally, the desire of having to drive for one particular team at all costs, no.”
