F1 News: Jenson Button To Race Iconic Championship-Winning Car At Silverstone For Williams Anniversary
As Williams Racing celebrates its 800th Grand Prix, a notable highlight has piqued fans' interest: Former World Champion, Jenson Button, will commandeer the famed FW14B, a car renowned for Nigel Mansell's 1992 championship win.
The British driver and brand ambassador for Williams will take this classic car for a spin during a series of demonstration laps at Silverstone, a sight that will no doubt be a trip down memory lane for Formula 1 fans.
The 800th Grand Prix entry will actually be at the Hungarian Grand Prix with the 799th being the British Grand Prix. However, the team will be carrying out celebrations at both due to their British heritage and that the 800th would have been at Silverstone before the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix was cancelled.
Amid the landmark festivities held in Silverstone and Budapest, Williams Racing is preparing a visual spectacle with the FW45. Designed specifically for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the car will feature a bespoke livery paying homage to the team's British heritage and its late founder, Sir Frank Williams. Moreover, the FW45 will carry a unique emblem in Budapest for the Hungarian Grand Prix, marking the occasion.
Button's thrilling drive in the FW14B undoubtedly forms the heart of the Silverstone event. This iconic drive will be accompanied by a range of fan-focused activities. Williams Racing has arranged a fanzone in London's Piccadilly, complete with interactive experiences and a chance to engage with Williams personalities.
Reflecting on the team's achievements, team principal James Vowles, shared:
