F1 News: Lando Norris Reveals Michael Schumacher Story That Will Make You Giggle

"When you’re like 12 years old, I think seeing someone like Michael was pretty insane.”

Imagine how excited you'd be when you saw your F1 hero right in front of you for the first time. McLaren driver Lando Norris recalls one of his encounters with Michael Schumacher during his karting days when the Ferrari driver got into a short argument with a 13-year-old.

The seven-time title winner and F1 legend left the world of racing toward the end of 2012 which gave him enough time to focus on his son Mick Schumacher's race practice.

Norris revealed how Michael used to be present at the karting race every weekend when he used to compete with Mick in 2012 and 2013. Expressing how thrilled he was to see Schumacher, he told Virgin Radio’s Chris Evans:

“I’m gonna have to say it was karting with Mick Schumacher, and therefore Michael at the time.

"In 2012, 2013 Mick was my competitor, and Michael was always there. Every weekend he went, Michael was there.

"And I guess when you’re like 12 years old, I think seeing someone like Michael was pretty insane.”

Norris also recalls a moment when Micheal Schumacher got into an argument with another teenager who was his teammate. Though the reason behind it was not known, it was quite amusing to watch the F1 legend behave like one of those protective parents. He revealed:

"I remember him having a bit of a scrap with one of my teammates!

"Michael having a go at one of my teammates, who was like 13 at the time or 14 at the time, and getting into quite an argument, which was great to watch!

"So that was very amusing.”

It must've been quite a moment to witness someone like Schumacher school a teenager- an event that one would never get to watch on television otherwise.

The first half of the 2023 season saw Norris secure two podiums, totalling his championship score to 69 points in eighth place behind Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz.
